LARGE FORMAT SCANNING -Getting it right

Click2Scan have scanned hundreds of thousands of documents over the years and are ideally placed to provide free advice on all aspects of document, photo, plan and drawing scanning. Having viewed many previously large format scanned drawings and plans it would seem that the vast majority were originally scanned at around the 200dpi mark, far too low to achieve the relevant scale of quality in the finished scan. We recommend at least 300dpi particularly where fine details need to be viewed e.g. electrical drawings and 300dpi is our standard.

Whereas large format scanning is a  relatively simple process it is most definitely not fool proof and we would urge caution if you do decide to take it on in-house and ensure proper training is given to ensure complete familiarity with the setting up and ongoing operation of your large format scanner solution. Should you prefer to outsource your large format scanning then we offer a comprehensive and competitive service which includes everything from document collection through secure storage, scanning, indexing and subsequent delivery of the digitised format back to you.

We achieve exceptionally high levels of repeat business and in our view, and that of our valued clients, this is down to the quality preparation and production of all large format scanning. Many bureaus will scan at a low resolution, hoping you don't notice the difference as large format scanning is a very labour intensive operation and to them, time is money. As a result of this we strongly recommend that for all of your large format scanning requirements where you decide to employ the services of a bureau, you ask for written undertakings on quality, resolution and the trained standards of staff. Far too many will hire in temporary staff to cope with production scanning peaks and troughs.
